Title: An Unnamed Hillstream Area located in the Eastern Ghats of Andhra Pradesh, India
Volume: 102 L
Lighting: Neo Helios Flat Nano S3 Pro
Filtration: SunSun HW 302 Canister Filter with 750 grams media for Chemical and Biological Filtration.
Plants: I haven’t seen any plants in that area, so I didn’t add any to the aquarium.
Live stock: 20 pieces Danio rerio (Zebra Danios)
Hardscape Materials: In this 102-litre aquarium, I have used coarse sand from the hillstream area of Andhra Pradesh as the substrate. For decoration, I used 54 kg of similar stones from the same area to replicate the original habitat. I also added a palm leaf to the water surface to mimic the natural environment, where leaves float and fish swim under their shade.
Background: For the background, I have used White Vinyl.
Substrate: Coarse sand from the hillstream area of Andhra Pradesh as the substrate.
This is an effective display which delivers a natural scene using minimal components and a fish many others might turn their nose up at. I really appreciate that the creator has chosen to showcase the common Zebra Danio. the simplicity of the display works in its favor; better representing the somewhat minimalist stretches of hillstream habitat where Danios can be found. The use of the palm frond to suggest the world above is effective and brings relief in the form of texture and colour to the stark nature of the rocks. Concerning the rocks, they do appeared to be ‘stacked’ a little artificially and perhaps plalcing fewer rocks lower down, or using just several larger pieces would appear more natural. The background chosen is effective, as is the substrate choice. Finally, the aquarium size is appropriate, something I am pleased to see as too often Danios are placed in aquaria which are far too small.
