Once again, it pains me that a lovely display should be disqualified due to the use of exotic/invasive species. And once again, I sympathise with the creator that their presence in the habitat should faciliate their use in faithful biotope representations. This is especially frustrating when the display is otherwise very well put together (although some of the fish used here get too large for the tank eventually). Sadly, the competition rules state that the use of non-natives should lead to disqualification. I understand that this display has been submitted, perhaps almost in process at the rules and while I must adhere to them, I hope the creator will also appreciate that I sympathise strongly with their position. I feel that that perhaps given the efforts the creator has gone to, in the face of what must be unimaginable difficulties, dangers and constraints, the competition should recognise that perhaps reform is required? Certainly, they should commend, in the highest terms, how this creator has used nature, used this artform and used their passion to make a statement on how humans treat the natural world and indeed, each other. I hope also that this message might be conveyed to the creator: I commend you, for your effort, for your stance, for your bravery and persistence, given the context of what must be a terrible reality and day to day existence, and I wish you the brightest future imaginable, in spite of the realities of the time and place you live in.
